Description

The Leather Casein Additive EXPERT LINE additive in coating compositions by LeTech.

Casein belongs to the classical film formers of the protein type in the classification of leather coatings. It comes from milk, in which it is found in the form of calcium caseinate.

Casein paints have a disadvantage in terms of resistance to water, which is the reason why casein is so poorly used today.

However, modified casein solutions are permanent components of coating paints for finishing of shoe leathers and other leathers, where high hygienic properties and breathability are required.

The modified casein film formers of the EXPERT LINE series make it possible to obtain coating films that have all the positive characteristics of the original casein paint described above. At the same time, the strength and moisture resistance of the coating meet the highest requirements.

The undisputed advantages of casein-based top coatings for leather include: elasticity, durability, high durability, and stability of application characteristics.

The Leather Casein Additive additive in the coating compositions gives the leather valuable properties, such as:

  • High aesthetic appeal;
  • Resistance of the coating to water and aggressive media;
  • Resistant to mechanical abrasion and other influences;
  • Creation of dispersion film, which increases vapour and moisture exchange.

The Leather Casein Additive EXPERT LINE finishing additive is ideal for:

  • Leather clothing & footwear
  • Leather accessories
  • Not suitable for suede and nubuck

Advantages

Benefits of LeTech Leather Casein Additive EXPERT LINE finishing additive:

  • Highest adhesion to leather;
  • Casein is chemically similar to leather collagen, which is why the casein film adheres very well to the leather surface. Casein is also able to react with almost all chemicals;
  • Colour stability of the dyed leather under the influence of UV radiation and other external factors;
  • When the coating is formed, the casein film on the leather surface acquires a discrete (discontinuous) character this provides the leather with truly unique hygienic capabilities: air exchange, vapour and moisture exchange;
  • Casein coatings are capable of being well polished in the scraping process, giving the surface a necessary lustre and beautiful appearance;
  • The highest class of ecological safety;
  • Meets modern leatherworking standards.

Instructions

The Leather Casein Additive EXPERT LINE belongs to the professional range of materials; working with it requires a certain application technique as well as an understanding of the product's properties.

Our LeTech ACADEMY - LeCademy+ trains you in the correct use of our professional care and restoration products and supports you in the application process.

APPLICATION OF FINISH COAT WITH CASEIN ADDITIVE

After the painting of leather shoes or leather garments, we recommend protecting the surface with LeTech Leather Top Coat and adding the Leather Cross Linker X 5-10% of the total amount of the product, as well as adding the Leather Casein Additive 10%-15% of the total amount of the product.

The Leather Top Coat protective coat with the Leather Casein Additive significantly improves the vapour permeability of leather, improves its hygienic properties and imparts a natural lustre to the leather.

With the LeTech EXPERT LINE range of protective coatings, you can choose from a vast selection of matt or gloss leathers, plus the tactile properties you want from our unique line of protective coat additives:

  1. Leather Slip Additive
  2. Leather Wax-Effect Additive
  3. Leather X-Guard Additive
  4. Leather Casein Additive
  5. Leather Thickening Agent

The Leather Top Coat protection varnish with the leather additive is applied as a final step, after the leather has been repaired and coloured, to ensure that the result is firmly fixed. It is ideal to apply the product by spraying it on with an airbrush or airbrush gun.

This allows you to get an even film and the necessary protective coating characteristics. Avoid applying too much varnish as too thick layers of barrier varnish can discolour the leather and make it harder to handle.

The drying time of the Leather Top Coat depends on the temperature and humidity of the environment. The Leather Top Coat can usually be used after 2-3 hours after restoration, but the complete curing and crystallization process takes 8-12 hours.

It is not recommended to expose the leather to cleaning agents and application of various leather care products in the first week after leather restoration and the Leather Top Coat application. One week after restoration, the leather can be used without restrictions.
