Description
The Leather Dye Fixative is a special product formulated with the latest developments in the leather industry for fixing the Leather Dye Pro leather aniline dyes. The fixative significantly strengthens the bond of the dye with the leather and prevents it from being washed out and makes it less susceptible to water.
Once applied, the Leather Dye Fixative bonds with the leather paint to form long, water-insoluble molecules that tighten the colour's bond with the leather fibres without affecting the colour itself, thus maintaining its natural saturation.
Thus, the dyed product becomes less susceptible to water and moisture. After applying the Leather Dye Fixative, the leather can also be treated with our Leather Protection Cream, the Leather Lotion or the Leather Top Coat to strengthen the protective properties of the leather.
The Leather Dye Fixative is excellent for the following product types:
- Aniline leather;
- Leather from vegetable tanning plants;
- Suede and nubuck leather;
- Leather handicraft items.
Advantages
The Leather Dye Fixative has the following advantages:- It strengthens the bond between the paint and the leather;
- Substantially enhances the durability and stability of the dye;
- Advanced formulation for fixation of aniline dyes in the leather;
- Maintains the colour intensity of the dye;
- Highest toxicological safety class;
- Meets modern tanning industry standards.
Instructions
Shake well before use. Make sure the leather surface has been properly cleaned and prepared for the application of the compound.
The Leather Dye Fixative is applied to the leather after painting with the Leather Dye Pro aniline dyes. For best results, apply the Leather Dye Fixative by spraying, with an airbrush or paint gun, but you can also use a Sponge Applicator. It is important to apply the Leather Dye Fixative while the surface is still wet after painting. If you apply the Leather Dye Fixative on dry leather, the final fixation result will be slightly worse. Try to apply the Leather Dye Fixative evenly to avoid streaking.
NOTE: the Leather Dye Fixative is used with the Leather Dye Pro and not with the Leather Colourant, which forms a polyurethane covering.
LEATHER PRODUCT PROTECTION
After painting the leather, it is advisable to protect the surface with LeTech Leather Top Coat.
Leather protective top coats enhance the leather's resistance to abrasion and exploitation.
With the LeTech EXPERT LINE range of protective varnishes, you can match the degree of mattness or brightness you desire and match the tactile properties of leather with our range of unique protective varnish additives:
- Leather Slip Additive;
- Leather Wax-Effect Additive;
- Leather X-GUARD Additive;
- Leather Casein Additive;
- Leather Thickening Agent.
Leather Top Coat is applied as a final step, after the leather has been repaired and painted, to ensure that the result is firmly established. The Leather Top Coat is ideally applied by spraying with an airbrush or paint sprayer. This allows you to get an even film and the necessary protective coating characteristics. Avoid applying too much varnish as too thick layers of barrier varnish can distort the colour and make the leather stiffer.
The drying time of Leather Top Coat depends on the temperature and humidity of the environment. Leather Top Coat can usually be used after 2-3 hours after restoration, but the complete curing and crystallization process takes 8-12 hours.
It is not recommended to expose the leather to cleaning agents and various leather care products in the first week after restoration and application of Leather Top Coat. One week after restoration, the leather can be used without restrictions.
